Nike, the "Winged Victory of Samothrace", which represented "strength, progress, freedom and triumph in the face of adversity" -- ideals shared throughout the national federation. It became the emblem after its sculptor, Nygaard submitted, and it was selected. The statuette was made in Greece and the inscription on the base says NIKE SAMOTRACIA. |
